A Note From the Cubmaster
Let me take just a moment to welcome you to Pack 705, where Scouting is fun, and tell you a little bit about us and what is going on. Pack 705 is sponsored by Fayetteville Christian Church. The pack is organized in dens respectively called Tigers (1st grade), Wolves (2nd grade), Bears (3rd grade) and Webelos (4th & 5th grade). Each den determines where and when they meet. Some meet at Fayetteville Christian Church and others elsewhere. On the last Thursday of every other month the dens meet collectively at the Pack meeting where Cubs Scouts receive awards earned that month and show off skills and crafts they have done that month. The 1st Thursday of the month is reserved for adult leader training at the District Roundtable.
During the summer months, June – August, the dens normally do not meet as ‘dens’ but the Pack meets once or twice each month for a Pack activities (usually bowling, skating, swimming, fishing, etc.) Also in June there is a week-long day camp that is hosted by the district that the Cubs can sign up for.
We have some exciting things coming up rapidly that promises to be fun-filled with excitement for not only our Cubs but for families as well. Remember that when Cub Scouts camp it is ‘Family Camping’ meaning that at least one parent must accompany the Cub Scout but the entire family is always invited to come along and join in. We consider ourselves a family orientated Pack.
My philosophy of Scouting is “If we are not having fun, we as the adults are doing something wrong”. Scouting should be a fun activity that involves not only the Cub Scout at den meetings, Pack meetings, and outings but the whole family. But our program can only be as strong as our volunteers. We need parental involvement in all levels of the Pack from the Committee to the parent volunteer so please consider helping us help your son.
Once again, welcome to Pack 705 and ‘hang on’ for a wild, fun-filled adventure that will shape your lives and the lives of those around you.
